Owning your own home can be easier than you think. With the City of Fort Worth's programs, qualified buyers may have dreams of homeownership turned into reality. The city has several housing assistance programs designed to help first-time homebuyers. These programs are made possible through Federal, State and local funds. As a result, there is specific regulations and criteria you must meet to take advantage of them.
HOMEBUYER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (HAP)- Qualifying home buyers can receive a subsidy of up to $14,999 for homes located in Fort Worth. The buyer can use the full $14,999 subsidy for mortgage assistance or use $3,000 of this amount for closing costs and/or down payment. Neighborhood Empowerment Zones (NEZs)
The city of Fort Worth has established special zones to promote building throughout the city. These zones have special incentives associated with building and remodeling. There are many reasons to consider building or buying in these zones. The Priority Repair Program is a program that can help some existing homeowners with emergency or mechanical system home repairs up to $5,000. Lead Safe Program
The city's Lead-Safe Program (LSP) is committed to creating a lead-safe environment for the children and residents of Fort Worth. The program helps income-eligible residents protect children (under age six) from lead when they live or spend extended periods of time in a home with lead. Services include free lead-based paint home inspections, lead-based paint hazard reduction services and community education.
